Bob’s hometown is Waldron, Arkansas. Bob graduated from the University of Arkansas with a BSBA in 1956, and was the Senior Scholar in the College of Business Administration. He worked for IBM for 35 years as a Systems Engineer, Systems Engineering Manger and Marketing Manager in Little Rock. He maintained close ties with the University of Arkansas during this period because of his recruiting responsibilities for IBM. Bob received the 1993 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Arkansas Society for Computer and Information Technology, and was a Charter Member of the Arkansas Academy of Computing being inducted in April, 2006.
Bob is married to the former Betty Ferguson who works for the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service. Betty is a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University with a Master’s Degree from the University of Arkansas, and is a member of the Arkansas Agriculture Hall of Fame. They have been active in supporting both the University of Arkansas and Ouachita Baptist University with Endowed Scholarships. They have also made Room Donations to the Old Main Restoration on the U of A Campus, and the Arkansas 4H Center in Ferndale along with many other contributions.
They have no children, but a host of nieces and nephews.
