Clarence Durand established the computer science department at Henderson State University. He nurtured and guided it for two decades. The program turned out excellent graduates who went into many of Arkansas’ top computer businesses. Clarence build internship opportunities and strong relationships with industry. He was also an officer of ARKNET, working with the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and others to build a statewide network. Clarence also served the state as an assistant director of the state information agency.
