Doug grew up in Houston Texas. He attended Stephan F. Austin University in Nacogdoches Tx. He graduated in 1964 with a degree in history. Doug joined IBM in 1965 in Little Rock. He was there in marketing until 1978 when he went to the IBM Education Center San Jose California. There he taught distributed solutions to clients and IBM’ers. In 1980 he became the Manager of New Business Marketing in Houston. In 1981 his unit won the national new business trophy. Doug moved to Fayetteville in 1982 as the manager for his division in Northwest Arkansas. He became a Territory Manager in 1990. Upon Doug’s retirement in 2001 he managed his divisions business for all of Arkansas and parts of Missouri and Kansas. This included offices in Fayetteville, Fort Smith, Little Rock, Joplin, Springfield, Jefferson City and Independence Kansas.
Over Doug’s 36 year career with IBM he worked with 100′s of Arkansas accounts. These include major involvements with: Acxiom; Arkansas Best Freight; American Freightways; Baldor Electric; J.B. Hunt; Mass Merchandisers; Tyson Foods; Systematics; Walmart Stores; and the University of Arkansas.
