Gary worked with the University of Arkansas’ Computing Department Staff (under Dr. Wray Wilkes) from 1961-1964. He designed and developed first Greek/Rush week scheduling system. From 1965-1993, he worked with IBM in Systems Engineering and Marketing positions. While at IBM, he installed the first remote on-line order entry system in Arkansas. He also attended IBM’s Systems Research Institute. From 1993-2006, Gary worked at Management Consulting Practice focusing on Executive Planning & Business Continuity Planning. He served as a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America from 1985-2006 and was a member of the President of Westark Area Council form 1993-1995. For the City of Fort Smith, he served as the Planning Commission Chairman (1988-1994) and on the Board of Directors/Vice Mayor (1995-2006).
