Jerry Blackburn worked for SBC on nuclear warfare models in the mid-1960s in Boston and NY. He came back to Arkansas with CDC to manage the installation of a CDC 3300 at the UA Med Center and stayed to manage the UA MC data center. In addition to the UA clinical, academic and research applications, Mr. Blackburn helped establish the national Migrant Students Record Transfer system. He brought the first DEC 10 to the state to replace the CDC and continued at UAMS until 1981 when he was a founding partner of Compunet. In 1983, Jerry established the DEC based computing center at Hendrix.
Born in Arkansas, Mr. Blackburn grew up in Clarksville and Conway. He graduated from Hendrix College.
