A native of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, Rex Eads graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1987 with a Computer Science Engineering degree. In 1989, he founded Cascade Software Consulting, which he grew to be the largest local IT staffing company in the Portland, Oregon market. For several years, his company was among the fastest-growing companies in the state, and was also recognized as one of the best companies to work for.
In 1993 Rex and his wife, Jennifer, bought a Candy Bouquet distributorship, and developed the the first Candy Bouquet franchise from the ground up. From that model, they sold and supported 8 Candy Bouquet franchises in Washington and Oregon. They later sold their franchising business to Candy Bouquet International, who used their franchise model to launch into the franchising business.
In 1998, Rex was named one of the Portland Forty Under 40 for being “One of Portland’s most successful and civic minded business people under the age of 40″ by the Portland Business Journal.
He sold Cascade in 2002, and currently works with start-ups and small businesses, specializing in launching new products and services. He has been an advisor, investor and board member for start-ups in a wide variety of market segments ranging from folding kayaks to medical software to social media.
In his spare time, Rex spends a great deal of time fly fishing, and is working on a book about vintage bamboo fly rods.
