With consistent confirmation from a number of state colleges and universities, the Arkansas Academy of Computing believes it can make a significant impact on technical education in Arkansas through granting scholarships to college students in the computing disciplines and encouraging younger students (middle school) to pursue STEM education/careers. With your help, our scholarships and activities allow us to positively impact a larger number of students and schools, and we have been pleased by the impact of these awards on our recipients.
The Academy increased the number of scholarships from five to 14 in 2010. In 2014, the Academy awarded 50 scholarships!
The Scholarship Committee works with the Computer Science Department Heads across the State of Arkansas to select the scholarship recipients. Our collective goal is to select students whose education and career choices will be positively affected by these grants. We are beginning to develop excellent relationships with our schools and hopefully will discover other ways to positively impact the pursuit of technical careers by young Arkansans.
