As a university recruiter for one of the most tech savvy companies in Arkansas, Allison knows everyone and is
known and universally appreciated by everyone in computing in Arkansas. She was there in the
beginning of organizing computing for higher education in Arkansas and she has launched many, many
computing careers. As a university liaison, she has worked on and organized university relations with
many computing departments over the years. She has worked with the EAST programs in Arkansas high
schools since the early days and can be credited with encouraging many students in pursuing a career in
computing. In addition, she is a role model for women in computing and would make a valuable asset
for AAoC based on her many contacts and considerable energy. Her career highlights follow as recorded
by Allison: While working at Hendrix College (1987-1995), I was involved with John Talburt in recruiting
students and faculty to Arkansas Society for Computer and Information Technology (ASCIT), an
organization aimed at getting computing education in higher education. I left Hendrix in 1995 to work
for ALLTEL and I have been at Acxiom since 1999. Hendrix College, Office of Student Development,
Conway, Arkansas. Director of Career Development, 1987-1995. Served as administrator of a full
service, centralized, career development center. Trained and supervised up to twelve professional,
paraprofessional and student staff members. Tracked the progress of the senior class toward
employment and graduate school placement. Planned and implemented five annual on-campus and
inter-collegiate career/job fairs. Coordinated the on-campus interview program and the resume referral
process. Utilized alumni through Career Links, a computerized network system created in-house to
assist in the placement of students and alumni. Assisted in the recruitment of prospective students by
participating in campus orientation programs and local and out-of-state receptions. Monitored all
internship site development, placement and evaluation. Facilitated workshops and spoke to a variety of
audiences on career development and job search related topics. Supervised student volunteer
programs. Served as primary career counselor for students and alumni and provide career counseling
and assessment on an individual and group basis. Worked with faculty and staff to address the personal
counseling needs of students and making referral to campus or community resources. (ASCIT) ALLTEL
Corporation, Little Rock, Arkansas. Manager of College Relations, 1995-1999. Supervised up to twenty-
three exempt and non-exempt recruiting staff members. Managed a 1.2 million dollar budget. Built the
