Gary W. Speas, P.E., is president of SpeasTech, the company he founded in 1978. Mr. Speas earned a B.S. in electrical and computer engineering from Clemson University. He has 15 patents, many of which are related to SpeasTech products. Mr. Speas does design and programming of microprocessor and PC based system. He also does hardware product design which includes schematic and printed circuit board design.
Gary Speas was born in Tennessee and received his BS degree in electrical and computer
engineering from Clemson in 1975. After relocating to Arkansas, he became a licensed
professional engineer (P.E.) and founded SpeasTech in 1978 to provide industrial
automation products and services.
One of his early projects was in sawmill automation, replacing electro-mechanical control
systems with digital systems based on the microprocessors and sensors. As the sawmill
produced boards of specific sizes and lengths the system added the inventory to an
inventory control system based on the same microprocessors.
Currently SpeasTech provides products, custom solutions, and engineering design
services. Customers are in a wide variety of industries in multiple countries, for example
automotive parts suppliers in Canada and Sweden, an assembly line control system for a
hydraulic pump manufacturer in Kansas, and a literature picking system for an air
conditioning manufacturer in Florida.

The products are focused on picking systems, where items are picked from inventories for
shipment. These products include Smart Frame, Smart Gate and Smart Bin.
