Mary Gay is from Little Rock and a graduate of Hall High School. After attending Rhodes College in Memphis, she graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a Computer Information Systems degree. The degree was new in the Business Department, and some of the classes did not have textbooks, so the material was produced by the students interviewing leaders in the community. One of Mary Gay’s interviews was with John Chamberlin and that was how she was introduced to Arkansas Systems. After graduation, she applied for a programmer position but was only offered the job when she offered to work without pay for two weeks with the agreement that she would leave with no questions asked if they were not happy with the job she was doing.
Thirty five years later, Mary Gay is still with the company, now Euronet Worldwide, and is the Senior Director of Software Development for the software division. She currently manages development teams in Little Rock, Munich Germany, and Pune India for two product lines as well as QA, documentation, and security/compliance for all product lines.
Over the years, Mary Gay has been instrumental in identifying areas for improvement in different aspects of the business that have resulted in the creation of various departments and processes that are still active today; including documentation, change management, mandates, and point releases. She has served in a variety of roles including implementations, development, supporting clients, and product management. In the early 1990’s she was part of the design and development team that created the Integrated Transaction Management (ITM) product that is still sold today and used by clients all over the world. She continues to manage the ongoing product development for ITM and even dabbles in programming and troubleshooting when given the opportunity.
Mary Gay continues to provide her business knowledge and experiences in financial transaction processing, acquiring, and card issuing as input to new products and to mentoring her colleagues around the world. Every day is a new challenge, but that is what continues to make her work fun.
She and her husband of 35 years, Eric, live in North Little Rock. They have two grown children, Justin and Bethany and enjoy going glamping with their two dogs Charlie and Ollie.
